Well, life has been busy. I have a new home, new cat and a new job at the local college. With that job has come the added benefit of attending college classes, two per semester! An opportunity I haven't had before now. I have jumped in with both feet and decided to pursue a degree in English, with a minor in Fine Arts. With much joy and excitement I have thus far completed, two art courses. The first in software for Graphic Design and second, Oil Painting 1. Intermediate oil painting will start next week, I can't wait!
Over the years I have closely studied the master pieces in museums with the pudgy cherubs and the alabaster skin of the women draped in flowing robes. I have also discovered I have a fascination with fabric. This could stem from my many years of sewing! Yet the idea of painting with oil like the many great masters has intimidated me. So I have resolutely taken brush in hand to discover the uniqueness and mystery of oil paint! I should add, it also helps to have an actual studio to allow the paintings to dry without being disturbed by children or cats! You can peruse my gallery to see the varied results from my assignments....ENJOY! |

This was a crazy project done totally out of boredom at work. Yes I did it at work on my desk! I was in customer service/ tech help for a large cable company. I took flyers and things we got, and threw away, plates that had been used for lunches, my own office supplies from home (no stealing!) and had a donation box under my desk that my fellow coworkers contributed to the project. Needless to say I don't work there anymore, I moved to another job with better pay that keeps me from being bored out of my mind!
